Back in September, thinknext.net put up screenshots and videos of the latest build of Windows 7, which was quickly removed after a takedown was issued to the publisher. Whilst PDC is not that far away now, WinFuture.de has leaked the latest screenshots from Windows 7 Build 6801.
Check them out whilst they’re still available.
Update: Videos were removed by the user at Microsoft’s request
A bunch of screenshots and videos of the latest build of Windows 7 have surfaced on thinknext.net showing some of the core Windows interfaces including a slightly tweaked Explorer and refreshed applications that come bundled Vista.

The most noticeable change is with WordPad and Paint. These two applications have gained the Ribbon user interface that debuted in Office 2007.
You’ll notice that the look and feel remains largely the same as Vista with minor tweaks. Whilst Microsoft has revealed very little info about Windows 7, there’s been no leaks so far on whether Windows 7 will take a large departure from Vista in terms of its look.

Apparently, Microsoft will be distributing pre-beta copies of Windows 7 to those attending the PDC later this year. Can’t wait to see the coverage on it!
The takedown helps to confirm that this was the real deal – it’s a shame they took it down. PDC is coming soon so I guess we can expect the usual to happen. Ballmer also recently announced that a cloud version of Windows is coming out at the end of this month….hmmm, I wonder what he’s brewing up in Redmond.
In case you didn’t already see the announcements, Microsoft are calling the next version Windows 7! Is it laziness, bad marketing or brilliant, that they’ve decided to use the codename of the product as the actual product name?
Looks like Vista to me. I hope the changes in the final release aren’t so subtle…otherwise they’re going to have another Vista on their hands.
